rationale.
It turns out that there is a music project that stems from the friendship of suburban Chicago buddies in Real Friends and Knuckle Puck. It's called rationale., and it features Joe, Nick, and Ryan from KP, and Dan from RF. While it's a leisurely side project for the members involved, their product is definitely quality. Musically it's exactly what you'd expect from this fusion, but lyrically it's much more dark and confrontational than either of the respective bands' lyrics. "Some times we're too hard on ourselves/ but most times I hate myself," Dan Lambton softly sings on "Quarter Life." It's interesting to see how Dan and Joe's lyrics reflect different realities than a lot of their other material suggests. Perhaps this is due to their labels guiding the direction of their music towards the most accessible (profitable) route. It's feels like these that are truly priceless, and that's why their sole release as rationale., Confines, is available on Bandcamp for the free 99.
