Gramps The Vamp

Taking their name from a Scooby Doo villian, Chicago's Gramps The Vamp are a "doom funk" band that blend ominous 60s organ keys with slick 70s funk grooves to create a sound that is uniquely retro. While their self-appointed genre may seem a bit puzzling, it all makes sense when the music gets going. Liquid bass lines, trumpet solos, and keyboard riffs that echo the great Ray Manzarek (also a Chicago native) come together in a bubbling cauldron of delightfully frantic funk. And would it really be funk without two saxophonists? Old school B-movie film samples can be heard throughout as well, which fully complete the band's horror-inspired vibe.
