Tigers Jaw-"Tigers Jaw"

This is a relatively old one, but damn it gets me every time. I would definitely put this up on a list of the greatest emo records of all time. Taking decade-old influences from bands like The Anniversary and The Promise Ring, Tigers Jaw craft memorable hooks that grab the listener and wrap them in a tender embrace. The music and lyrics are emotionally in tune with one another and the end result sounds spectacular. On the surface this record can get pretty heavy emotionally, but if you pay closer attention to the rhythmic details it's actually pretty fun too. The crisp, pronounced drums and surprisingly groovy bass lines make for an album that's both tear-jerking and danceable. And I'll be darned if I don't do both with every listen.
