New and Noteworthy: Dog Blood- "Middle Finger EP Pt. 2"

Seeing these guys at Lollapalooza this past August was a unique treat. While the naive "bro-steppers" in the largely teenage crowd could barely fathom the sight of their bro-step god Skrillex, I was trying to absorb the sheer rawness and intensity that he and EDM old head Boys Noize were pumping through the speakers. It was music I could kill someone to. Groovy synth leads shed their skin to metamorphose into heart-pounding, mechanical breakbeat beat-downs. Their new EP, although only consisting of three originally mixed tracks, echoes with a menacing bark (quite literally on "Middle Finger Pt. 2") that shatters the EDM mold with a choppy, resounding lightning strike. "Chella Ride" (which I swear borrows the melody from Alex Metric's "Rave Weapon") is as playful as it is exhilarating; the drop obliterates everything around it, as an acidic 90's bass line rattles over a swift beat and a rousing "GET UP!" "Shred Sled" is centered around a metal guitar crunch that adds an overbearing heaviness to its weighty dubstep frame. "Middle Finger Pt. 2" is a glitchy roller coaster ride that utilizes a diverse sample set and short bursts of contrasting synth riffs to create a Frankenstein's monster of a track. Remixes of the title track include trap and traditional dubstep cuts, and will also not disappoint. Dog Blood are out for blood as they pave way for the future of in-your-face music.
