What's on my Playlist: Swizzymack

No matter how big this young gun from Philadelphia ends up becoming, his music will continue to be nothing short of MASSIVE. Morphing today's biggest hip-hop hits and more into uptempo, ADD-fueled hurricanes, Swizzymack (AKA Jordan Safford) has single-handedly given birth to his city's very own club music brand. I simply don't think it's possible to get bored listening to him. Unbeknownst to me, my first exposure to Swizzy was on RL Grime's Halloween Mixtape (2013), in which he dropped Swizzy's Khoisan-echoing bass attack "Drip." The track, which comes from Swizzy's debut EP BASS, exhibits Safford's creative ingenuity by taking the big bass and minimalist noise samples popular in trap music and formatting them onto a new landscape that is still 100% "turnt up." There are virtually no boundaries for Swizzymack's remixing abilities, as he has taken on tracks such as Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi," Avicii's "Levels," and Major Lazer's "Original Don" and made them all into bouncing club bangers.  It's no surprise that he caught the attention of mastermind producer Diplo early on, and is now signed to Mad Decent Records.
