New and Noteworthy: Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey

As an aspiring marathon runner, Ellie Goulding has teamed up with Nike to release a remixed version of her latest album Halcyon. The electronic reworks are bouncing, colorful, and as whole, build up perfectly to fuel that midway pace push. Even if you're not a runner, this continuos mix makes a great playlist for any casual party--not too overwhelming, but just enough bass to get things moving.

Lana once again graces fans with her signature nostalgic luster, this time taking on Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood's 1968 hit "Summer Wine." Alongside boyfriend and Scottish folk-rocker Barrie James-O'Neill, she keeps the "classic" in this American classic by giving us the impression of an old-school film reel in the accompanying video, and of course showing off that smoky and seductive barroom voice of hers. The couple's voices actually mesh together quite nicely--an Americana-inspired cover album from these two is something I'll definitely add to my music wish list.
